Sonographic examinations using the MYLAB 50 ultrasound unit are an easily accessible and safe outpatient examination method which does not harm the body with X-rays, needs no special preparation and therefore allows examinations to be repeated if necessary. Sonographic examination is a basic preventive method in young women and girls who have not yet noticed any symptoms of breast disease and do not belong to a monitored risk group. It is a complementary examination to the mammogram in symptom-free women who are included in the preventive screening programme. In the Czech Republic, there is a screening programme for women between the ages of 45 and 69. Sonographic examination is also used in diagnostic mammography as an auxiliary and complementary examination for all women with symptoms of breast disease. It can differentiate solid tumours from cystic changes and it enables confirmation and treatment monitoring in non-cancer findings such as breast inflammation and breast abscess, post-traumatic haematoma and subcutaneous fatty lumps. It enables timely detection of possible changes in scars on previously treated breasts, detection of changes in women with breast implants and monitoring of the implant edges and their eventual post-traumatic damage.

We also offer colour Doppler flow mapping as part of a complex sonographic examination.
Colour Doppler flow mapping is a special sonographic method to detect pathological arterial flows around ambiguous loci in the breast. It may be used both pre-operatively and post-operatively.
Other uses of MYLAB 50 ultrasound unit:
Ultrasound enables the examination of the thyroid, cervical, axillary and inguinal lymph nodes and palpable ambiguous subcutaneous formations, safely and without any special preparation.
It is also used when examining other organs, namely to detect blood flow in veins and arteries primarily in limbs. As a non-invasive method, it is used to diagnose thrombotic vessel closure in limbs.
The advantage of a sonographic examination is an absence of any side effects.
