Eyelids are often the most conspicuous part of our face, on which the first perceptible symptoms of ageing can be seen. This is caused by the fact that their skin is extremely thin and eyelids are functionally highly exposed. Over the years, skin elasticity declines and superfluous skin accumulates on eyelids. This surplus of skin can also be influenced by other factors such as heredity, skin type, skin care routine, allergies, or kidney diseases.
With each patient, the problem is revealed in a different age, however, eyelid surgery is most frequently required by elder women and men. Even with girls below thirty, this type of surgery is no exception, as they suffer, for instance, from an undesirable hereditary disposition causing rings under the eyes. Eyelid surgery is not performed only as beautification, but also for functional reasons, as affected people can feel fatigue, eye pain, or lacrimation, and may perceive worsening of sight or headaches.
Affected are not necessarily both eyelids, and this is one of the reasons why the surgery can be performed separately and also on either upper and/or lower eyelids. As agreed with the patient and depending on the evaluation of the condition of tissues, the interventions can certainly be also combined. Before proceeding with blepharoplasty itself, it is very important to consult the specialist who is supposed to perform the intervention. Do not hesitate to arrange a consultation at our clinic!
