Recovery after rhinoplasty + septoplasty
The convalescence period is determined individually to 1 to 2 weeks. The results perceptible approximately 3 weeks after the surgery include an unobstructed nose, opportunities to perform sports, and a calm sleep. Together with nose shaping rhinoplasty, the results also include a beautiful nose.
A small plaster cast is applied at the end of the procedure, which the patient wears for two weeks. Besides this, tamponade is introduced into nasal chambers, which the surgeon removes in two days.
Although the cast is removed after two weeks, the patient should keep attaching it during additional two weeks for the night. In this way, a danger of damaging the nose while sleeping can be avoided. Three weeks after surgery, it is possible to start easing the skin on the nose dorsal side by means of massaging. Bruises and major swellings subside within two weeks after surgery, however, the nose may slightly swell even half a year following the intervention. The client can see the final result after six months from surgery.
The result of septoplasty may be adversely influenced by the patient’s individual healing capabilities. Such a situation cannot be anticipated, and it can manifest for example by swellings around the nose root, a hypertrophied periosteum accompanied by a slight unevenness, or swelled soft tissues at the nose tip. These complications are rare, and if they do not fade away spontaneously, they can be handled with a simple intervention.
