Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty is aesthetic surgery, which reduces the size of the labia minora and/or labia majora and adjusts any asymmetry. The surgery is simple and immediately effective. The reason for surgery is the large size or length of the labia, which does not look aesthetically pleasing and can cause intimate troubles.
Making the decision:
If labia are abnormally sized discomfort can occur:
- During sporting activities
- When wearing a swimsuit and underwear
- During washing and sexual intercourse
- For purely aesthetic reasons which affect self-confidence
In these cases surgery is recommended for cosmetic as well as psychological reasons.

Operation:
Labiaplasty is performed either under general anaesthesia with half a day or one day’s hospitalisation, or exceptionally (at the request of the patient) under local anaesthesia without hospitalisation. The surgery takes about half an hour.
If labiaplasty is performed under general anaesthesia, the patient will undergo a pre-operative examination with her GP or another physician (including blood tests and EKG), the results of which will be reviewed by the physician. This examination can be performed at our clinic on the morning of the operation. A week before surgery you should discontinue using drugs like Acylpyrin, Aspro, Aspirin and Mironal, which contain acetylsalicylic acid which causes bleeding.
Pre-operative examination is not necessary in the case of an outpatient procedure.
Post-operative process:
It is not necessary to remove stitches after surgery – suture material is usually absorbable. Patients should avoid sports for 2 weeks and sexual intercourse for at least 3 or 4 weeks after surgery.Complications:
Post-operative complications are minimal.
