Karel Urban, M.D. graduated from the First Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in Prague.
He is co-owner of the private Esthé Clinic and specialises mainly in aesthetic surgery. In addition, since 1998 he has been working at the Clinic of Plastic Surgery at Na Bulovce Faculty Hospital, where he has been a chief surgeon since 2006. He is also an essential member of the surgical team at the Center for Complex Surgical Treatment of Women with Breast Cancer at Na Bulovce Faculty Hospital. He is one of the most successful plastic surgeons in the field of breast reconstruction on women who have undergone cancer-related mastectomy.
Dr. Urban also works as an assistant professor at the First Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in Prague. Within the University Clinic he is engaged in all its activities.
During his studies and his work experience, he gained postgraduate diplomas in general surgery and plastic surgery and holds a licence from the Czech Medical Chamber in these two specialties. He holds a Certificate of Professional Qualification in aesthetic surgery, as well as a certificate for work with lasers, application of injectable fillers, botulinum toxin and others.
He has participated in many study programmes and internships in Great Britain, Italy, Switzerland and elsewhere.
He is a member of the following associations:
- Society of Plastic Surgery of Czech Medical Association of J.E. Purkyne
- Society of Aesthetic Surgery of Czech Medical Association of J.E. Purkyne
- The International Confederation for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS)
He regularly takes part in international congresses and workshops in the field of plastic and aesthetic surgery, where he lectures about his professional experiences. As an author, he shares these experiences through articles and publications.
Thanks to his excellent results and personalised patient approach, he is one of the most sought after plastic surgeons; not only in the Czech Republic, but also among foreign clientele – especially from Great Britain, USA, Switzerland and Germany.
